Sloco Commits to Going Carbon Neutral

Tackling climate change isn’t a lost cause. If businesses team up and lower their emissions, we can make substantial progress toward a low-carbon future. The SLO City Council wants San Luis Obispo to be carbon-neutral by 2035, an ambitious target that’s 10 years earlier than Gov. Jerry Brown’s statewide goal of 2045.

Sloco Massage + Wellness Spa is proud to announce that they have committed to becoming Climate Neutral Certified and encourage other businesses to do the same.

Sloco is working with Climate Neutral, an independent non-profit organization, to measure, reduce, and offset our carbon emissions. The three-step process will give us net-zero carbon emissions, meaning we’ll reduce the amount of carbon we’re responsible for emitting, then zero out the rest by purchasing carbon offsets. Carbon offsets are investment projects that either prevent carbon from being emitted, like renewable energy, or remove carbon from the atmosphere, like planting trees.

Consumers will start seeing the Climate Neutral Certified label on various business websites and products that have made sustainability a priority. This label will help consumers consciously support brands that are leading the charge toward a low-carbon future.

Becoming Climate Neutral Certified is just a step in a long sustainability journey, but it’s a step in the right direction. Learn more about Sloco’s commitment to a low-carbon future at climateneutral.org and find out more about why they’re so passionate about taking climate action.

Students training to become massage therapists, are often encouraged by instructors to work for a spa before opening up their own practice. After studying the beneficial effects of massage therapy, Natasha Noel realized that her outlook on this healing art was not in line with the practices of most spas. So, despite the advice of her instructors, Natasha founded SLOCO Massage in 2010, right after graduating from the California Holistic Institute.
